Belly Dance Instructor
A lifelong lover of dance and movement, Isabel began an intensive study of belly dance while living in New Orleans in 2004. She immediately fell in love with this beautiful art form for its supple movements and powerful connection to the music. Since moving to Baltimore in 2008, she has been honored to perform at venues ranging from weddings and private events to the Smithsonian, the World Bank and numerous schools and universities. Isabel is the Assistant Director of Barakaat Middle Eastern Dance Company and directs two student performance troupes. She has completed in-depth teacher training programs with Sahara Dance and master teacher Artemis Mourat, and is certified in Levels 1 and 2 of Sahra Saeeda’s Journey through Egypt intensive dance ethnology program.
Isabel’s teaching style is patient and positive with an emphasis on strong technique, musicality, cultural insight and self-expression. Her classes include conditioning, dance movement and deep stretching to help students develop strength, flexibility and control, along with a a joyful appreciation of the human body and all it can do.
